Questions About Grace Resources
Our Purpose and Our Mission
Q Who is Grace?
A
Grace is not a person, Grace is a concept: Love in Action. Many people
assume our organization was named in memory of a special lady, but this
is a myth. "Grace Resource Center" is meant to imply that people may
arrive at our doors requesting goods and services which they cannot
afford, and receive from our storehouse without thought of
qualification or repayment. This is an enactment, on a small and
understandable scale, of humankind approaching the throne of God, with
all sorts of needs, none of which we are able to meet without the mercy
and kindness of One Greater, Who is both able and willing to receive us
and save us from destruction -- all because Someone else paid the price
for our "goods and services".
Q Is Grace Resource Center a church?
A No. Please see the Grace Resources Charter to understand this more fully. GRC is not, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be, a church.
Q Who owns Grace Resource Center?
A No one "owns" GRC. We are a charitable, non-profit organization,
supported by the gifts of time, goods, finances, and services
(advertising, fund-raisers, cooperative efforts, etc.), provided by
individuals, corporations, churches, and other organizations and
agencies in the Antelope Valley. We are governed by a Board of
Directors, to whom the Chief Executive Officer is held accountable.
Q Who qualifies for your services?
A
Anyone who honestly needs help; homeless, near-homeless, unemployed,
underemployed, parolees, children, senior citizens, all races,
religions, and backgrounds. If you need groceries and/or a hot meal,
you qualify.
Q What resources does Grace offer?
A
Grace is a food bank, first and foremost. We provide bags of groceries
to some 6,000 individuals on a monthly basis. We also offer hot meals
four times per week. Aside from feeding people, as donations allow us,
we also provide clothing, household items, furniture, vehicles,
personal hygiene supplies, and other services and referrals on an
as-needed basis. Maybe as important as providing tangible goods and
services, we also provide "listening ears" for all who come to us and
just need to talk -- to share their experiences, disappointments,
fears, and even victories, with a staff of persons who are committed to
feeding the whole person, not just the body.
Grace Resources is a 501(a) non-profit organization as described in section 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(iv) of the Internal Revenue Code. All copies of a documents regarding tax-exempt status are available for public view at no charge, at 45134 N. Sierra Highway, Lancaster CA 93534
